PROJECTS WE HAVE SUPPORTED

Over two weekends in October 2004 one of us walked the 100 miles plus 'Leicestershire Round' to raise money for Aboud. Proceeds went to three projects. We are continuing to collect funds for the housing project:

Housing Aboud Orthodox Christian Housing Project. The Orthodox Church has donated land for this project.

Currently they have built the shell of the ground floor. The project is at a standstill until they find  money to complete the roof of the ground floor. The Pontifical Mission (Vatican) will help with some further funding.

The Orthodox Christian Housing Project

The ground floor will consist of 12 shops to rent out and a large community hall. Income from the ground floor will provide the funds to start on the first floor. The plan is that there will be five floors with 8 flats on each. The flats will be sold  for relatively repayments to young Christian and Muslim couples and families. Flats on each floor will generate income towards further construction.

The project  also provides employment for villagers.
