Aboudies act to enforce court order freezing construction of the wall
Aboud 3rd March 2006
Showing the court order to soldiers
The previous evening , the Israeli High Court issued an order for suspension of construction of the wall in Aboud. But at around 11am villagers still saw the bulldozers hard at work, destroying their lands. About 100 villagers, Israeli peace activists and internationals marched to enforce the court order. The march was arriving close to the building site, while four teams of soldiers went down from Ofarim hill, where the Wall foundations have already been built and fired tear gasses at the demonstrators. The non-violent march and the soldiers met on the road where it was closed by a military jeep, around 200 meters from the building site. Despite the tension and the frustration of the youth they did not respond to provocation. Eventually the soldiers agreed to talk. The demonstrators showed them copies of the court order. The soldiers stated that construction had ceased 1 hour previously and that they were no longer going to violate the court order would no longer be violated. The villagers said they would be watching and that they would be back if the court order was violated again..
